Ray Wind Farm

Waitings were contracted to install approximately 24km of ducting and cabling from a wind farm 20 miles north of Hexham, to a grid connection point at a local distribution network operators substation. This involved burying over 150,000 meters of ducting (6nr ducts configured), and later winching in the 33kV cable, assisting the cable jointing team. Working alongside was an external Ecological Clerk of Works, with direct responsibility for monitoring compliance with environmental legislation, policy or mitigation. Waitings have an in-house Archaeological Clerk of Works who was present on site during topsoil stripping operations and who identified and excavated any archaeological remains which might be exposed during the work.

All works were compliant and managed under our NERS (Lloyds Register) accreditation. Waitings have had many successful surveillance visits from Lloyds over the last few years and so retain our status as an ICP. This is again testament to the site teams and the management structure in place.
